Meadowood is one of Napa Valley's premier resorts. Located off the Silverado Trail in St. Helena, this first class property is set in a stunningly beautiful, 250 acre valley. As one would expect, wine is a central feature. Meadowood offers wine excursions, food and wine pairings, wine education classes, and a two star Michelin restaurant.

What caught the attention of the Minute 00:60 was a unique experience for golfers of all levels. Behind the main guesthouse lies a tranquil 9-hole, walking golf course. It is an undistinguished albeit resplendent layout. But Meadowood adds a twist that makes for rollickingly good fun: golf Bobby Jones style.

The pro shop provides a selection of authentic hickory shafted clubs and a supply of replica gutta-percha golf balls. Men may also suit up with knickers and knee socks. We suggest playing with a long-sleeve shirt and tie to replicate more fully the throwback to the Jones era. We did. Golfers who have not struck a gutta ball with a hickory shafted club will marvel at the skill required.

As you approach the 9th green, the Victorian eves and French doors of the lodge lie before you. Meticulously maintained grass croquet courts whose players wear dress whites flank you on the left; majestic redwoods on the right. The feeling of a time warp to the roaring 20's is overwhelming. Have a bottle of Champagne on ice waiting for you on the terrace. Good stuff, that.
